In this combined position, you will have the opportunity to gain some great experience since you will work as: kitchen prep, food expeditor, food runner and dishwasher. You will be working in the following capacity:

• Kitchen Prep: will assist in the preparation of delicious dishes in the kitchen. You’ll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
• Food expeditor : acts as a liaison between the kitchen staff and the waitstaff, which ensures a steady workflow throughout the various departments of a restaurant. As an expeditor you will also finalize the presentation of each plate.
• Food Runner: responsibilities include setting tables, serving food orders, and removing used dishes and utensils. If you’d like to gain experience in the restaurant industry and learn how to provide an excellent dining experience, we’d like to meet you. To be considered for this role, you should be available to work various shifts, including weekends. Ultimately, you will ensure our guests have a high-quality dining experience by serving their food in a timely and accurate manner.
• Dishwasher: responsible for cleaning dishes in a foodservice environment to ensure that there is always plenty of clean tableware at hand. When washing, they prioritize different types and sizes of crockery and kitchen utensils. They are in charge of loading the dishwasher and placing dishes on drying racks to be put away properly when done using.

REQUIREMENTS

You will be expected to arrive at work on time, every day, and dressed in the proper uniform. You will be expected to make sure you perform your job responsibilities as taught in training and according to company standards.

Participants  working at The Maple Cottage will work in one of the busiest shops on the Island!  As a sales or retail associate, participants will be re-stocking shelves, working the cash register at check out, assisting customers with merchandise, as well as helping with questions or problems.  

They will also be straightening the store and cleaning the store during quiet hours, or before or after the store is open.  Additional duties include setting up displays, arranging merchandise, and stamping or tagging pricing on merchandise.  Sales clerks may also need to keep a record of sales, prepare inventory of stock, or order merchandise.

There is a possibility of a pay increase in pay once training has been completed and based on performance. Those employees with great attendance and strong work ethic will have the opportunity for a pay increase.

Room Attendants assist in the cleaning and maintenance of guest rooms and public spaces. This includes making beds, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, folding linens, removing dirty linens and towels from rooms, removing garbage, and assisting with the laundry.

This is a physical demanding job that requires someone who is motivated and willing to work hard. This position is not recommended for those who have allergies to cleaning chemicals.

The Laundry Attendant will be in charge of cleaning all linens and towels for the guest rooms. You will have to wash, dry and fold these items in a timely manor. You should be able to work independently and follow directions form your manager. Floor Attendant: This is a fast-paced job that requires the ability to work quickly and interact with the public during the entire shift. An outgoing and friendly personality is required. Floor Attendants must be comfortable working with American money and have good math skills.  They must wear a money apron and make change for the customers as needed. They must fill the slot and poker machines with tickets and tokens. They must fix very minor problems with the machines such as quarter jams and token/ticket jams. Gateway has a big storage facility where the employees must locate and retrieve the desired merchandise. Participants will be in constant contact with customers and that is why excellent knowledge of English is a necessity. You must be able to work under stress and still maintain good spirits. A friendly and outgoing personality is required.

Will need to have advanced English skills and be comfortable speaking with customers in English. Must have strong customer service skills. You will need to be comfortable working in a fast paced environment.

HOUSING

 Gateway 26 Employee Housing:

Rent is $195 per week. Participants who work the dates agreed to in the interview, and on their DS 2019 form, will be eligible for a refund of their housing equaling $50 for each week they worked/lived in housing. This will make the actual amount of rent paid for housing $145 per week ( after housing refund).

The first week's rent is due at the time of move in. A Housing Deposit in the amount of $195 is also due at the time of move in. The housing deposit will be returned to you, at the end of your program, provided you work the dates agreed to in your job offer and do not cause damage to the housing.

Participants who leave their jobs early, move out of housing early, or are terminated from their job at Gateway 26 Arcade will not be eligible for a refund of the housing deposit or for the $50 housing refund for each week they worked/lived in housing.

Participants working at Gateway 26 Casino Arcade are expected to live in the housing provided. Participants who choose not to move into employee housing, or who move out of housing early, may be required to resign from their position at Gateway 26 Casino Arcade
